PHYSICAL SCIENCE: one credit

FRESHMEN-SOPHOMORES-JUNIORS-SENIORS

PREREQUISITE: none

Physical Science is currently a required course and as such is a broad non-mathematics based examination of the nature and interaction of matter and energy. The course examines, during the first semester, the diversity of matter and its composition through chemistry. During the second semester, various forms of energy, their origins, and transforms are explored through physics. Because investigation is the key to opening the doors of science, laboratory and library investigative work is employed for reinforcement, illustration, and exploration.

PHYSICS: one credit

JUNIORS-SENIORS

PREREQUISITE: Physical Science, Geometry (completed or currently enrolled in)

Physics is an elective course, primarily college preparatory in nature. A balance of theory and practical application are used to present Newtonian mechanics, thermodynamics optics electricity and magnetism, electrostatics, electronics and high-energy physics. Because mathematics is the language of physics, adequate background in algebra and geometry is essential. The elementary trigonometry and vector algebra necessary is presented in the course as required.

BIOLOGY: one credit

SOPHOMORES-JUNIORS-SENIORS

PREREQUISITE: none

Biology is the study of all living things, both plant an animal ranging from microscopic sized organisms to complex multi-celled organisms. Special emphasis is placed on the study of man, environments, and ecological changes. Classroom work is supplemented by laboratory investigations.

CHEMISTRY: one credit

JUNIORS-SENIORS

PREREQUISITE: Algebra I (completed or currently enrolled in)

Chemistry is a study of matter, its structures, properties, composition and the changes that matter undergoes. Classroom topics are supplemented with mandatory laboratory investigations.

HUMAN PHYSIOLOGY: one credit

JUNIORS-SENIORS

PREREQUISITE: Biology, Chemistry (completed or currently enrolled in)

Human Physiology is a study of the chemical and physical mechanisms that are characteristic within the human body. All individual body systems are studied in relation to anatomy, physiology and pathology.
