First year art is designed as a studio workshop in which the student interested in art is exposed to a variety of mediums including pencil, charcoal, ink, pastel, oil paints, watercolor, printing, ceramic sculpture, leather, papier-mâché, and jewelry. Emphasis will be placed on developing and understanding creative expression, art vocabulary, methods, techniques, and basic art fundamentals.
ART II:
SOPHOMORES-JUNIORS-SENIORS
PREREQUISITE: Art I
The purpose of Art II-IV is to provide for a meaningful experience in art on a more advanced level than Art 1. Therefore, specialization in a medium of choice for the purpose of refining and developing advanced skills is the goal of Art II-IV. This course is a more advanced course of Computer Graphics I which offers in-depth work with the utilization of various hardware and software to advance artistic creativity. It requires the use of technology design tools combining the multiple-dimensional nature of Art and computer technology. Students will be required to research projects via the Internet and to incorporate some of their own photos into projects. Critical thinking and drawing must be used to solve a variety of teacher-driven problems related to conceptual design work. The grade is based on quality and amount of work produced.
CRAFTS II-III

PREREQUISITE: art II
This course is intended to allow further exploration in dimensional medias of ceramics, sculpture, pottery, paper machete, leather work, wood burning, and fibers. An emphasis will be placed on design and concepts as well as the technical aspects of working with these media.

High school band is open to any member of the student body with previous instrumental music experience. During the fall, the band performs as a marching and pep band. During the winter and spring, the band prepares for and plays at various concerts, contests, and ball games. Contests are also held for individual soloists and ensembles. Jazz band performs throughout the year for different organizations and clubs. All members of the band are in the jazz band and learn various jazz playing styles. Band members may also audition and play with honor bands throughout the state. Private lessons are taught for students wanting to increase their proficiency on a particular instrument. The class is designed to teach instrumental fundamentals and advanced techniques.
VOCAL MUSIC (CHOIR):

Vocal Music is a singing performance class. All styles of music from classical to jazz to rock are sung. The objectives of the class are to develop vocal techniques, gain knowledge of music history and style develop proper performance etiquette and appreciation for music of different cultures. Contests are also held for individual soloists and ensembles.
