barely missed making it to finals due to the number of participants
in her category," Coach Amy Krob said.
There were a total of 224 entries, but each entrant can
compete in up to two categories. The following schools attended the
tournament; Colby, Dighton, Ellinwood, Ellis, Hays, Hill City, Hoisington,

Ransom, Russell, Scott City, Stockton, TMP, Utica, and Victoria.
The next tournament is MCL at Victoria April 9.
Seniors Participate
in Read Across America Day
Read Across America Day was March 2. It was originally
started to celebrate Dr. Suess' birthday and has also been designated
as "Read to Children" day. It was started by the National
Education Association (NEA) four years ago. Their goal is to improve
literacy by creating awareness.
As a class project, the seniors went to the elementary
school and read to Dana Friend's second grade class during first hour,
Sheila Buck's fourth grade class during third hour and Mary Jo Buresh's
third grade class during seventh hour. The following seniors participated:
Auldin Morris, Chantan Reif, Stephanie Fellhoelter, Kelly Wilson, Sarah
Koehler, Matthew Rodriguez, Amber Burton, Alan Austin, Matt Axelson,
Kassi Lynch, Jason Stahl, Corey Brin, Brian Deutscher, Cara Hansen,
Ashlee Grover, Jared Ganoung, Hannah Deibert, Kyle Dreher, Hollie Marquess,
Danielle Meitler, Heath Albert, Andrew Simon, and Lindsey Ostrom. Sophomores
Jessica Eisminiger and Jamie Stahl accompanied the seniors seventh hour.
"I was very proud of my students' willingness to
do this. A few grumbled about it, but all of them did a super job once
we were in the grade school. High school students need to realize what
a huge unfluence they are to younger kids, and I know that all of the
classes we read to loved it," Amy Krob said.

Seventeen Travel
to D.C. and New York
Seventeen PHS students flew out of Kansas City towards
New York for the UN tour March 17. They also drove on a bus to Washington,
D.C.
Students attending were seniors Kelly Wilson, and Lindsey
Hamblet along with juniors Rhiannon Becker, Renee Post, Stacy Dreher,
Jennifer Jones, Heather Plante, Shanna Fellhoelter, Ashleigh Turnbull,
Abby Morris, Katie Weigel, Jennifer Bland, Katrina Jones, Audrey Bjornstad,

While there students enjoyed seeing many sights. They
included the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building, Arlington
National Cemetery, the White House, John F. Kennedy's grave and George
Washington's house. They also went to China Town and Time Square. The
group also attended the Broadway production of Beauty and the Beast.
Fellhoelter said, "My favorite part was the theater
and going to the top of the Empire State Building. I will never forget
getting lost in Time Square with the tour guide."
Turnbull said "The least favorite part of the trip
was climbing the Statue of Liberty. My encounter on the flight home
from Chicago to Kansas City was something I'll never forget. A guy harassed
us on the plane and had to be escorted off by security guards."
Bland said, "My favorite part was the play."
J. Jones said, "I went flying for the first time!
My favorite thing was renting a limo in New York City. The grossest
thing was the smell and the graffiti."
Becker said, "I hated the rainy weather. My most
memorable moment of the trip was the last night we were there. Kelly,
Renee, and I stayed up all night fighting over stress relief spray (sic.)
from Bath and Body Works!
Post said, "My favorite part was the play. The bad
weather was my least favorite."
Weigel said, "I didn't like climbing one and a half
hours up 364 stairs to the top of the Statue of Liberty. The room at
the top was the size of my truck and had windows the size of books!
My most memorable moment was in the Statue of Liberty when Heather said
she wasn't afraid of heights and then she cried while crawling on her
hands and knees up the stairs and scooting on her butt the whole way
down."
Eilers said, "My most memorable moment was rooming
with Audrey, Heather, and Jennifer."
Peavey said, "I wish we had more time in the Smithsonian.
When you step out of the airport in New York, the whole city feels different.
It hits you immediately, but it's really hard to explain."
Bjornstad said, "My favorite part wa the Changing
of the Guard at Arlington Cemetary. My most memorable moment was making
the video of the trip. My least favorite part of the trip was the bad
food."

Junior Shanna Fellhoelter has been very busy working on
the Prom Video. Many juniors and seniors have not turned in any pictures
to Fellhoelter which makes it very hard for her to get it done. Please
remember to turn in some pictures to Fellhoelter so that you are not
left out of the video.

videos will be made and available before school is out. Price information
is not available right now.
Talking About Spring
Break
The Booster staff asked PHS students what they did over
their spring break, what they would have liked to do and what their
most memorable spring break moment was. The following are some of their
responses.
Freshman Craig Baldwin- "Went to my grandma's house
and got to see cousins I have never seen. I would have liked to got
to Worlds of Fun and go back to Colorado. When I sat in the hot tub
at the Holiday Inn with six pretty young ladies."
Sophomore Willie Ruder- "I pumped a lot of gas, fixed
several tires and listened to oilfield stories. I also went to some
horse races in Nebraska. I wish I could have gone to the QVC studio
and watched the Ronco Rotisserie Oven at work. My most memorable break
was when we actually had a whole week off for spring break. Them were
the good old days."
Freshman Lindsey Plante- "I went out with my friends.
I wish I could have gone to Texas to stay with my aunt and uncle. My
most memorable spring break was when I went to Wichita and got to go
shopping."
Sophomore Jamie Stahl- "Me, Lacey, Matt, Lindsey,
Jamie Dreher, Michelle, and Stevie went mudding and my truck beat Byron's
truck! Matt was driving! More mudding! Spent more time with my friends.
None, really, but I guess this year was the best. If we had more of
a BREAK, then I could go somewhere and do something, but this year's
break was okay."
Senior Hannah Deibert- "I celebrated my nephew Zach's
birthday. He turned one. The same thing because I had fun playing with
him. This one because Zach's first birthday and party only happens once."
Senior Ashlee Grover- "I traveled to Topeka for a
couple of days, and to Smith Center for one day. I also went shopping,
and just basically relaxed. I wish I would have run and pampered myself
more. When I was in sixth grade, a friend invited me to travel to Washington,
D.C. with her and her dad! It was the best vacation ever!"
