the concert band will be performing "Appalachian Hymn", "Stone Creek Episode", "A Trumpeter's Lullaby" starring Mackenzie Becker on trumpet, "Land of the Free", and "Encanto."
The Jazz bad will be performing "Shake, Rattle and Roll" starring Spencer Blecha on alto sax, "Hello Again" starring Spencer Blecha on alto sax and Mackenzie Becker on trumpet, "Hang on Sloopy" starring Spencer Blecha on alto sax and Kristin Dinkel on flute, Mackenzie Becker on trumpet, and Ben Gehring on tuba, "More" starring Amanda Husmann on trumpet, and "Norwegian Wood."
Director Connie Reishus said, "My favorite song for the concert is 'Appalacian Hymn'. I like the song because it has a lot of harmony and it is a cool piece. The song that has been the most difficult for the band to learn would have to be Encanto. The tricky rhythms and its fast tempo make it hard to learn and play."

Winter Glacade

FCCLA and Stuco are making arrangments for Winter Glacade. The dance will be held February 5 from 8p.m. to 11p.m. The doors will be locked at 8:30. The theme is "This is the time" and the song is "true" by Ryan Cabrera. FCCLA will be in charge of the decorations as stuco brings the refreshments. The colors are light blue, dark blue, and white. The DJ for the dance is C&C from Colby. The candidates for Winter Glacade were Megan Becker, Kelsey Bjornstad, Lauren Hemphill, Nicole Wessel, Brandon Brown, Paul Owings, Seth Brin, Josh Hrabe, and Lance Gosser. The crowning was held January 25 during half-time of the boys game against Lincoln. The king and queen was Paul Owings and Megan Becker. The junior attendants were Amy Casey and Dalton Benedick. The Lady Cards beat Lincoln 42-38, and the boys beat Lincoln 90-50.

January Boosters

The Plainville High School Boosters of the month for January are seniors Brandon Brown and Nicole Wessel.

Brown is involved in wrestling. His favorite color of Skittles is red. In his spare time he enjoys playing his X-box. His favorite movie is Napoleon Dynamite and his favorite song is "Word Up" by Korn. The most ridiculous thing he has ever done is the time he tackled a stop sign.

Wessel is involved in Pep Club and softball. Her favorite flavor of Skittles is lime. Her favorite movie is Dodgeball, and her favorite song is "Let's Get It On" by Barry White. Her favorite way to pass the time is to hang out with her friends. Her most ridiculous moment is the time she drove backwards from the baseball fields to Katee's house with Lauren, Paul, and Katee.

Tuckers open gift and antique store in Palco

Dennis and Shari Tucker of Palco have put together the best of both worlds by opening the Corner Station, a gift and antique store, which is the former Skelly gas station in Palco.

The Tuckers enjoy traveling during the summertime, finding unique items at flea markets and auctions. They have quite a collection that is currently for sale.

"We have everything from gifts, antiques, furniture, household items, and crafts," Tucker said.

The Tuckers had considered building a facility to house their items, but when the opportunity to locate in the filling station, they agreed it would be the right place.

"We also have a lot of pieces of Palco that are not for said," Tucker said. "We have several items from the old theater, the sundry store, scales from the drug shop, and a lot of Coke items."

The Tuckers say the shop is in a constant state of rearranging, improvement and plans for the future.

"We keep moving things around," Tucker said. "You could spend 24 hours here rearranging and setting things up. We'll probably be moving things all the time."

Open by appointment during the winter months, the Tuckers' teaching schedule does not allow lengthy hours until school dismisses for the summer.

For now the Tuckers go to sales and auctions when they can, the rearrange and add to the shop's inventory, and the continue preserving a special part of Palco.
