Greg Rinehart brings a fresh and optimistic outlook to PHS

Greg Rinehart is the new principal at PHS. He came from South Haven, Kansas. He lived there his whole life. He was a teacher and the activities director and assistant principal. He also has coached girls basketball and used to be on the South Haven School Board. He also was involved in a farming and ranching operation.

One reason that made him come to this little town was that he was impressed by the size of Plainville and houses along with the school and its teachers. South Haven was only a fourth of the size of Plainville. He wanted to be in a bigger school. He has a total of 26 years experience with three of them as assistant principal.

Rinehart said, "I see a lot of potential and history, and I want to bring back the tradition that Plainville is known for."

Some expectations he is hoping for are cooperation along with working together with a teaming approach.

He also said, "The main goal is to become responsible citizens. What's important is to help students bring out their best effort. There is a time to work and a time to play; it's just that you have to choose when that time is."

He plans to accomplish his goals and is looking to us to do this.

Seventeen seniors work as teacher's aides

Sixteen Students are enrolled as teacher's aides.

They are seniors Andee Marquees (Kim Albers), Quintin Plante (Joe Dreiling), Julie Hrabe (Jack Hilgers), Lindsey Plante (Jeff Kohl), Jordyn Wilkens (Amy Krob), Kira Schumacher (Dale Sims), Terri Kenney (Dale Sims), Aryn Garvin (Jon Thummel), Chantal Maddox (Shari Tucker), Amy Normandin (Deb Turnbull), Brad Lynch (Lee Weber), Nicole Bender (Karen Wilson), Adam Meyers (Jackie Ralph), and Justin Morris (Dana Friend).

"Teacher aides are wonderful. Jordyn frees up some of my time by making copies and filing- the necessary tasks of a teacher that are so time consuming," Amy Krob said.

"Sometimes I grade papers, copy papers, or just anything that needs to be done," Kenney said.

Jackie Ralph is fortunate enough to have three teacher's aides.

"Its wonderful. I love having them the hours I do. The first graders look forward to the aides coming in every day. They are all great with kids," Ralph said.

How can a teacher keep three students busy with work?

"There really is no challenge. I usually have something planned for them, but if they finish early or I change the task, they jump right in and just work with the children. It is great. The first graders love reading to the seniors," Ralph said.
